A 2010 Challenge: Create Your Vision and Your Goals
We have all been told that it is important to create SMART goals every year in order to be purposeful and achieve what is important to us. I’d like to challenge you to do one more thing in 2010. This one more thing has the power to change your life!
My challenge to you is directly related to my fascination with reading a 1910 classic by Wallace Wattles called The Science of Getting Rich. While most of us are familiar with Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, we have not been aware that the little known Wattles said it all very succinctly 17 years earlier. In fact you will see many of the principles of The Secret and numerous other books in this timeless classic.
What makes this important? Here’s an example: When you think of a SMART goal you might choose a revenue number. Increasing revenue by $100,000 is specific and measurable but does it infuse you with energy and passion? According to Wally, you must have a compelling vision, an attitude of gratitude and the will to act in a certain way. He illustrates how getting rich is as much a science as algebra with results that are just as predictable.
I have a vision of sitting in my soon-to-be-arriving library where I will coach and mentor many scholarship clients. I can see all the details of the room. I can see it, feel it and smell it. I can tell you that I feel more excited and passionate about my vision (which has many more aspects to it) than I have ever felt about a revenue goal.
My challenge is then for YOU to create a vision…paint a picture of what you will have to say at the end of 2010 or 2020.

I have read the book every day this past month and listened to the CDs while reading. I have never felt as excited and energized by a New Year as I am today. Join me in this adventure!
